Summer Reading List

This is my summer for reading and I've gotten quite a few suggestions from friends and about what to read. I thought I'd share my list with you (I don't have the authors for all of them, sorry). Now, it's long...so this may end up being a summer/fall reading list. I'm looking forward to diving into these:

Christian Reading For Moms
  • Finding Your Purpose as a Mom
  • Being a Great Mom, Raising Great Kids
  • Staging Your Child's Faith - Florence Littauer
  • 10 Things I Want my Daughter to Know
  • Creative Parenting - Lisa Whelchel
  • Shepherding a Child's Heart - Tedd Tripp
Christian Reading For Women

I have seen this movie but I have not read the book. I have heard a lot of good things about it, perhaps it will be something that Rondell and I read together.

A few people recommended books by Francine Rivers. She writes Christian fiction books based on women in the Bible.
I saw this book suggestion from the blog Keeper of the Home. It sounded interesting.

This is another suggestion I took from a blog (I can't remember which one).

Quite a few people recommended this book to me. Since it came so highly recommended it will probably be one of the first books I read.

Isn't she lovely? This book is the autobiography of A. Wetherell Johnson, founder of BSF. My BSF discussion leader recommended this to me and I would be interested to read about how she came up with this wonderful concept of studying the Bible (since we all know I LOVE it).

I woman from my church recommended this book to me. It is a book that explores the seven feminine virtues given in Titus 2.

General Christian Reading

My BSF leader also recommended this book.

A member of my Small Group recommended books by Dr. Larry Crabb, including the one above.
Organizing my Life Reading

I saw this book on Keeper of the Home too! This is probably the first one I should read!
Fun Reading

These two books were suggested by my bloggy friend Ruby Red Slippers. She actually gave them away on her blog a week or so ago (I didn't win). They seem so interesting and she spoke very highly of them. I have Something Borrowed on reserve at the library as we speak...I'm #61.

My good friend Lyndsey really likes this author and has been telling me to read her books for a while now. She said that her books make her laugh out loud. My bloggy friend Vivienne actually met the author in person. I can always use a good laugh.
If any of you have any other suggestions, feel free to send them my way. I love reading!

Oh I love Francine Rivers. Have read two of her books and if I had more time, I'd read more. Like you, I love to read. Shepharding a Child's Heart is also a great read. I didn't get to finish it though so let me know how it turns out!

I will have to check some of these out. Uh... I do love Jen Lancaster, but fair warning: she can curse like a sailor. Interesting juxtaposition with some of your other reads....

My goodness! You are going to be busy reading this summer! I'm not a big reader...I think I got burned out on reading in college when they made you a ton of books all the time! Those all look like really great books though, I may have to check a few of them out!

You have my bookshelf on your blogsite! I have read almost every one of those books! Creative Parenting by Lisa Whelchel I have not read but I have Creative Correction. I don't like it all. If anyone wants it feel free to take it off my shelf! I'll stick it in the mail.

Captivating is a really good book. I also did the group Bible Study and have done part of the workbook she did with it. I really like your book choices, I need to check out some of those.

That, my friend, is A LOT of books to read! Looks like a great list though! Enjoy!

Oh, and if you want a good cry, I just read My Sister's Keeper last weekend. You're sure to get a good cleansing cry from that one!
