Tackle it Tuesday - Learning My Cricut

I will say I've been slower at breaking in my Cricut than I thought I would be. I guess because it's new and sometimes new things make me nervous.

While my sister was here I thought it would be fun to make name tags for the girls' doors. I had them pick out the paper they wanted (not really the colors I would have chosen, but it's not my door). They also picked out shapes they wanted to include on their name tag.

Here's Toshianna's name tag.

I had Rondell laminate them for me and then I used a hole puncher to make a hole and then tied on some ribbon so that they can hang on their doors.

Here's what Jamison came up with.

I used a pink ribbon for hers (sorry for the blurry pictures).

I'm happy with the Cricut so far, but of course now I want more cartridges and they aren't exactly cheap. Once I get back into scrapbooking I will use it much more and I have some thoughts running through my head for some fun fall crafting. My only complaint is that I don't care a lot for the sticky sheet you have to put the paper on because then you have to pull it off and it curls the paper. It's a small complaint compared to how much I know I'm going to love it.

So, I'll say...to be continued!!!

I really want one of those. I've heard nothing but good things. It might be time to break down and get one. Where did you purchase yours?

The door tags look really cute! Glad you are getting some good use out of them. And Christmas is just around the corner. Maybe some new cartridges under the tree? :)

I think the name tags turned out really cute!

Cute! I want one of those as well. They just cost so much! Check Ebay for the cartridges. That is where a friend of mine gets hers from. You can get them new at a fraction of the cost.

The more you use your mat, the less sticky it get until there is basically no sticky left. The mats are the one thing you have to spend money on to replace. When your paper gets where it moves when you are trying to cut, it's time to replace it. I wish I could figure out a way to make them sticky again but not damage your paper.

I love my Cricut! I'm using it more and more all the time for all sorts of different things. The other day I cut out a simple apple and wrote a little note on it for Samuel in his lunch. Did you see the tumbler I made for Samuel's teacher - simple, inexpensive gift.

Check out my friends sight. She makes these with her Cricut, Mod Podge and a clear varnish to seal it. She makes a lot of extra money making them. http://clipboardsbyhaley.blogspot.com

I bought a Cricut last year for my birthday. My MIL had one and I decided that even though she lives 8 minutes away from me, I still needed my own. I love it! I use it on every page that I scrap! I have about 6 cartridges, but I borrow my MIL's all the time. I find that Walmart has the best everyday price, but Michael's has pretty good sales on them every now and then. You gotta watch for it! I've also bought one or two cartridges off of ebay, but you never know what you're gonna get from ebay. You have to be careful if you take that route. Oh, and with the sticky mat, yeah, it does make your paper curl, but after several uses, the sticky-ness isn't so sticky and it won't do that as much.

Okay, that's enough from me! I had a venti java chip frapaccino a couple of hours ago, can you tell????

I bet the Cricut has endless possibilities, but I hear you on the cartridges being a bit spendy. That's what I have found with my Stampin Up! Big Shot. I have ONE die cut, but would love to have lots more. But that means money. I guess in the meantime, I'll just borrow. ;)

My sister has a Cricut and raves about it! You will definitely love it for scrapbooking.
