miscellany monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1.   Homemade pizza help...last night Rondell and I attempted to make homemade pizza once again.  It is my goal to learn how to master homemade pizza because 1. I love pizza and 2. I think it would be fun to have pizza night at our house where we all make our own pizzas.  It didn't turn out as well as we would have liked...the crust was a little too crusty, we need to find a different sauce, and it took much longer than we anticipated because the dough took forever to rise.  So, I'm calling on the big dogs (that would be you)...do you have a good dough/sauce recipe so that I can live out my dream of making pizza?  Please...I need you!

2.  Blast from the past (some things never change)...yesterday Rondell found a grocery list in his pocket that I emailed to him in 2008.  As he was reading it we realized that it sounds just like the lists we make today...we are still buying the same stuff.  BORING!  We decided that it really is time to revamp our menu...spice it up a little.

3.  A little something special...I ordered something for myself for my birthday this year, something that I rarely do.  I ordered one of these...my necklace says 'be still.'  You must check out Becky's shop and her blog...you must, right after you finish reading this post.

4.  Simplify...this is my new word to go along with my other word for 2010 (focus).  As I'm walking around my house I'm realizing that we have too much stuff (no wonder I'm getting frustrated with my organizing...I have too much stuff to organize), my desk area at work has too much stuff...I need to simply.  I need to eliminate the clutter in my life so that I can relax and focus on the important things that need my attention (the Word, my family, revamping our menu, making fun things for Christmas, etc).  So, I'm grabbing a bunch trash bags and I'm throwing stuff away.  And If I have less stuff I'll have less to clean :)

5.  Are you ready?  Thanksgiving is next week...just sayin'.  What are you looking forward to most?  Me...turkey and dressing!

Love homemade pizza and loooove the word SIMPLIFY even more. I think this is something most of us need to do. Good luck!

Kelli,

Don't trash everything, take the things others might like and donate them. Make a list of the items you give away, and get a receipt from the donation agency, and get a tax write-off come tax time. :o) I'm STILL de-cluttering. Why do I feel the need to own so much STUFF?!? :eye roll:

My birthday is Wednesday, Turkey Day is Thursday, and the annual Rachael-does-the-Christmas-decorating-thing is Friday next week. I'm GIDDY with excitement!!!! :o) I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of year!! :o)

I need to simplify too! Sometimes I want to just load everything up and drop it off at Goodwill:) I think the boys would be a little upset if I took all their toys though! The only suggestion I have for homemade pizza is that I know some pizza chains will sell a disc of uncooked pizza dough and then you can make your own pizza from that. Not quite homemade, but at least you will know you like the crust!

We make homemade pizza and have for years- we have tried several dough recipies and my hubby's favorite is the pillsbury pizza dough in a can!! I don't like it, but it is super easy and makes pizza night SO MUCH EASIER!!!!

We also made individual pizzas on english muffins and the kids really loved that too.

Last week, I cleaned out drawers, closets, cabinets, etc and threw away so much stuff- it felt SO GOOD- now to keep it that way!!

Have a super week - sorry I have been absent the last few weeks- I've been super busy!

OK, you and I are totally kindred spirits, ha! I ordered a necklace of similar style for myself on Friday night. I can't wait for it to come in! I love the stuff on Becky's site...looks like I might be buying another necklace :) Good luck with the pizza dough. I should really learn as we eat pizza too much and it would save a good chunk of money. I love our local pizza place, though, and I doubt I'd be able to touch theirs in taste! Happy Monday :)

Simplicity. You'd think it would be so much.....well, SIMPLER! Seems to be the toughest goal for me to attain. :(

I'll dig out my pizza dough recipe later and post it for you. Everyone here loves it and I'm always having requests for pizza days. :) It's really easy and it's best to make it either the night before or in the morning if you're wanting it at dinnertime. It has to set in the fridge for a while.

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. And thanks for reading. I have not mastered homemade pizza and I think I love Mellow Mushroom pizza so much that I may just leave it to the pro's!

Oh I love homemade pizza. We usually try to make the pizza out of the box.
I am so with you on simplifing. As the kids make their Christmas list I want to add they really don't need a thing just send them some love. But I know Trey would kill me if I wrote that. Each year about this time I do make the family go through the house and get rid of stuff we don't use. We donate it all to a Share your Christmas program.
I hope you have a great day!

Homemade pizza IS the best. But when I'm not cheating with store-bought dough, I make my own in the bread machine (double-cheating in some ways, I suppose).

We've never done homemade pizza...I admire you all for trying, because that sounds like a great tradition! We need to, the kids would love that ;)

too funny about the list! I would be the same way...although I've actually gotten worse...I need to actually make a list and stick with it!

decluttering is always 'to do' around here...and I did get the pantry cleaned out! My mom is planning on staying with us a little while when the baby comes...and I thought it would be nice if she could actually see the food! :)

Simplify is a great word. Everything should be simple. No need to make it complicated right? Good luck with the pizza. I have no help for you. LOL
Not ready for Thanksgiving or even Black Friday shopping. Ugh. It is coming up so fast.

I love the pizza dough in the biscuit section. I have tried to make dough, but it is hard.

I am looking forward to green bean casserole and dressing...I can't wait!
