Works for Me

Like pretty much everyone, Ron and I are trying to do small things to cut back on expenses. We are trying to be smarter about the money that we spend and so I've tried to think of things to do in order to cut back.

One thing recently that I tried was generic diapers. This is huge for me because I'm a bit of a diaper snob. I have always used Pampers, and prefer Pampers Cruisers.

One day I was in Kroger (our local grocery store) and was looking at the price difference between Pampers and Kroger brand diapers and it was a huge difference, almost half! So, I grabbed the Kroger brand...gasp!

Since then I've tried another grocery store brand, but most recently I picked up Target's brand and they are GREAT! I should have known that Target would have a good quality diaper. Now there's no turning back for me...Caleb is dry and my wallet has a few extra dollars. Works for me.

Head on over to We are That Family and find something that might work for you.

I love that you're a self proclaimed diaper snob :). We always liked the Sam's Club brand... cheaper and no leaks!

I have used Target brand diapers for both of my kids with no issues. I really like them. I do love the cruisers, but it's just not worth the extra expense. I experimented a lot with diapers with my first, but the second hasn't worn anything but Target brand. :)

I think this is a great idea. I was always for Pampers myself, but with the third baby-I tried Target's brand, and was hooked. I could kick myself for not doing it sooner!

I was so with you! I never bought anything but Pampers from the time both my kids were little. I had heard horror stories of the Walmart brand leaking...and Oh, I just couldn't handle even trying them. I will have to say that if any brand stands up to Pampers it'd have to be Target...Their brand of everything is great!

I am also kinda of diaper snob. I like Huggies. Maybe I will check out Target. Thanks for the tip!

huh! I haven't tried the Target brand. Thanks for the tip! I found that I like the 7th Generation brand (organic), but they weren't good for night time use!

That's so great! It's been a while for me, but I remember using a cheaper brand with Ella and liking them.

Good for you!

Ms. Kelly...I've recently tried the Walmart brand pull-ups...LOVE THEM!!! Seriously, they work great! And they are cheap! Way to go on saving money....just don't EVER buy the store brand pads...I'm warning you! ;)

I hear ya! We used pampers at first too, but now we use the Walmart brand (parents choice) for both diapers and formula! It is amazing the price difference.

I think Walgreen's diapers are better than any name-brand! Seriously! The ones in the green wrapper, the white wrapper ones aren't as good.

I'm done with diapers!!! Yay! I sure wish I had tried this a few years ago! My only fear would be that any savings I get by switching to a Target brand will be negated by my zombie like quest once I get in that store...

must... find... red...clearance... stickers.. red.... stickers...

Maybe I'll have to try those Target diapers too? We spend so much on diapers these days and I just get sick thinking about how much they are! Thanks for the tip!

I can soooo relate to this post. With my first child, I only used Pampers Cruisers. When my second child came along, I only used Target and Wal-Mart diapers and they worked just fine. I wish I would have saved myself some money the first time around!

We use the Target brand, too! :) The big green box! haha. Have you seen me there yet??? :)

I can relate to this post. As a mom of four kids, I totally understand and love how you call yourself a diaper snob! We didn't have Target in Alaska when my kids were babies, but I've heard they are awesome. :)

From one self-proclaimed 'diaper snob' to another: You are braver than I! We ONLY used Pampers on our first, but have since found Luvs. They are considerably cheaper, but I just can't bring myself to try the generic! I'm with Amy though, pull-ups are another story! We had great success with WalMart brand pull-ups. My [nearly] 9-month-old is already into a size 4 diaper though... we may have to take that plunge! Will keep you posted~

I loved Wal-Mart brand of diapers for the daytime. But sorry I spent the extra money for a package of diapers that were only used at night. I didn't want any leaks to mess up a good nights rest.
Hope you have a great day!

I gotta say I still love my Pampers. I try desperately to find as many coupons I can and any sales I see, so I can keep on loving them. ;)

I've heard the Target brand is great too...from LOTS of people! I am so glad you admitted you are a "diaper snob" because I am SUCH a diaper snob too...but you may have just inspired me. The price difference is HUGE. Hmmmm....I may pick up a pack next time I'm at Target a.k.a. my favorite store in the whole wide world!! Ha!

I use Costco brand, but I don't think it actually saves me THAT much money.

I'm kind of a diaper snob too, so I might have to give these target diapers a try!

Come see my blog, I tagged you!

I love generic diapers too! I love the Kroger ones myself, but have also used the Target and Walmart ones too. They are all really about the same, and I really just buy whichever ones that are available at the store I am at when I need them.
