Friend Makin' Monday

Friends...it's that time...time for us to get together and share some info! If you haven't joined us yet, you must...we have fun and you get to meet some cool people. I have.

Kasey has a good question today:

What is the Best Advice someone has ever given you?
The first thing that popped into my mind was my mother telling me when I was younger that I need to be interested in sports. She told me this, not to get a boyfriend, but for when the time came that I had a boyfriend or husband and if he liked sports then I'd be able to relate in that area.
It sounds simple but let me tell you...my husband LOVES sports and the fact that I also appreciate sports appeals to him. He loves being able to have conversations with me about certain games...(we're mainly football fans), that I know which Mike is which on Mike and Mike in the Morning, that I know that when they hold up the D and the cut out of a fence, that means defense (my cousin did not know this), that we are able to have a March Madness bracket challenge (which is won by the way), and so on... Now I will say that I'm not as big of a fan as he is, like listening to sports radio and tracking statistics on line and stuff, but I do enjoy sports enough for Rondell.
One time I asked Rondell how he would feel if I didn't know anything about sports and he got this scared look on his face and said he wouldn't like it.
So, I think for me, my mom's advise worked!

I came over from Kaseys page. That is good advice! My husband and I love sports. I think I like them because my dad secretly wished I was a boy not his 3rd girl. Lol.

Have a great monday!

Great advice- unfortunately, I grew up in a house where sports was never watched :(. My hubby loves sports and so do our kids, so he has someone to always watch with :)!!

Have a great week!

I love sports. I think my hubby probably appreciates that about me too. He's a sports fanatic. I like to accredit 6 years of cheerleading to my knowledge of sports. I actually learned something standing on the sidelines. :)

Hope you have a great Monday!

That is too funny! What is cool is that you like them for yourself, as well as for him.

This is great! I think my husband wished I had a little more interest, but at least I know the terms (I played 3 different sports in high school, so that counts for something, right?).

Happy Friend Makin' Monday!!

I think she was pointing out that you should enjoy SOMETHING together. She suggested sports because most men like it or LOVE it!

I enjoy going to baseball games with my hubby! Go Hogs!

Hi Kelli, thanks for stopping by! We never watched sports at home growing up, so I guess I'm fortunate Hubby's not a huge sports fan, but it so helps to have common interests, doesn't it?

Hope you have a great week!

My Mom told me to go shopping when my man was watching sports, and then we'd both be doing something we loved... :-) One year for Christmas, Chris gave me the gift of letting me buy his wardrobe for 1 full year, and I gave him the gift of watching every basketball game that he watched. I think he appreciated me learning the sport. But now he's back to wearing old T-shirts, and I am back to shopping when he turns the game on!

Funny...I grew up with four older brothers that never watched sports! Now, I CAN tell you every part under the hood of a car LOL! Not sure if that helps or hurts when it comes to men. My brothers always made sure I knew how to at least determine the car's problem, before calling them for help!

Hi Kelli!

I love your new look! And great advice! It's a good thing my husband doesn't care about sports, because I never learned to appreciate most of them. Although I do like basketball and so does he!

Sorry I'm late commenting today!

XOXO

Wonderful advice! I never thought about this topic, but what a smart mother you have! Sports teaches so much in life. It is always great that though you might not be wild about sports at least your husband knows you love him enough to show interest in his interests. I hope that you have a blessed Monday!
