Two of My Favorite Guys

I just thought I'd share this moment:

They Grow Too Fast...(Brag Alert!)

My babies are growing way too fast!
Caleb: He is walking so well these days. We have the hardest time keeping him off of the stairs though. He 'talks' to us and is really showing his personality, to the point where I think (know) that we'll have to watch out for this one. He definitely has a temper but at least it is short-lived. I just felt today and he has two molars that have started to pop through. I think he will really love the outdoors as he has started to get a little taste of what it is like. I guess I'll have to get the hose ready for that day when he discovers the mud puddle.
I can't believe this picture...he looks like such a big boy!

Jamison: She got into full-day Kindergarten. That is truly an answered prayer. We really believe that she will fully benefit from being in school all day so that the teacher can really work with her and take the time that Jamison needs. Soon she'll be going through an evaluation to be exited from Special Needs Services. When we entered her into her preschool 1 1/2 years ago I would have never thought she would be where she is now. The girl can read an ENTIRE BOOK!!! I'm so proud of how far she's come and how hard she's work (along with everyone!).
She is really into princess everything and wants to be Sleeping Beauty for her birthday.

So, I just thought I'd share the happenings to the Davis not-so-babies!

Photo Art

Right after Valentine's Day I was at my friends Sara and Elliott's house for a gathering. I noticed that they had this cute print on their wall of photographs representing different letters that spelled out their last name. So, the frame has an opening for each picture and each picture is a picture of a letter. Kind of hard to explain. If you go to this website you'll be able to see the examples. This lady does this out of her home and I thought I'd pass on this information because I love to support small businesses. Plus the prints are so nice!

The Blizzard of '08

I must say that because I'm from Cleveland, when the forecasters here in Columbus prepare and warn about the snow, I don't get too nervous. BUT, this weekend they were right on. Starting on Friday, right around 9:00 am as they predicted, the snow started falling and as I look out the window now, on Saturday at 4:52 pm, it's still falling. I, of course, have already had conversations with my dad about The Blizzard of '78 (I'm surprised my mom didn't mention it too!) and how we were trapped in the house together all day. Well that's the Davis Family today.

Rondell and Jamison went out earlier to shovel (more Ron than Jam) and Caleb and I stayed inside (even though he was not too happy about that).
Enjoy the snow!
PS. I'm still working on this blog thing so the pictures didn't come out how I wanted them, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Good Quote

I saw this quote on a blog today. It really made me think:
"I want to know for myself what God says. I want to know the things that make Him happy and the things that break His heart. I want to know how to live a life that will please Him. How can I do that if I don't study His words to me?"
I love to read things that make me think and put something into action.

I Heart Blogs

So, I see now that 2 people read my blog (hi Rondell and Janna!). So I'm going to keep going. Plus it's fun to just write about random stuff.

So, back to the title...I love blogs. On most blogs that I come across there's a sidebar with that person's friends' blogs. I don't have that because I only know one person who blogs...again "Hi Janna." Anyways, so when I visit a blog, at times I click on the other blogs and then on their other blogs and so on. I usually end up finding a blog that's interesting to me and by that I mean the person usually has kids around my kids' ages and they have good tips. I have found that a lot that I look at like to scrapbook like me! I'm always interested in asking about this new digital scrapbooking that I've seen. The newest one that I've come across is here. Sometimes I feel strange looking into other people's lives and I don't even know them, but for some reason it's fun.

So, if you've come across my blog through other blogs, or you're just checking in on me because I've made you look at my blog, know that you are welcome anytime and I hope I have some interesting things for you to read!

Caleb is Walking!!!

This past week Caleb started walking. On Tuesday he would take four steps here and four steps there. Then as the week went on he got more confident. Now he is just a little champion walker. We always knew that he could walk but he needed the confidence to do it. Now he gets so excited and even catches his balance! I can't believe that he's walking and talking (he says 'hi'). He's such a big boy.
Now we just have to wait and see what he does next. I'll post pictures soon.

Hello, Is Anybody Out There?

I'm just trying to see if anyone actully reads my blog. Testing, testing... Please comment if you do. That way I'll know whether or not to keep going.

She Knows What She Wants!

The other night we were having breakfast for dinner. Jamison loves to do that, and so I was telling her that we were having bacon, eggs and biscuits. She then turned to me and said, "Mommy, I want the yellow eggs; I don't want the yellow and white." Translation: she wanted scrambled eggs, not a fried egg! My mom and I laughed about that for quite a while. I'm glad to see that she knows what she wants!

There's Nothing Like Old Friends...Even During Sad Times

Last week one of my best friends lost her mother. That is something that is hard to think of being that we are the same age and I can't imagine losing my mother at this age. So, last week I traveled to Cleveland for Tanysha's mother's funeral. Mrs. Hoston was a lovely, passionate, honest, God-filled woman who will be truly missed. She was like another mother to me, keeping me in line like I was one of her own. All that said, I was able to see old friends that I haven't seen in years. In HS I had a very close group of friends. We are all still close but have moved all over the country so it's harder to keep in touch. So, even though it was a sad and emotional event, it was really refreshing to see old friends and talk like we were just together the other day. While some of the Posse members were missing, it still was like old times. I miss you girls!!!!

Happy Birthday to Caleb

This past weekend we celebrated Caleb's first birthday. Here are a few pictures from the partay! As you can see he needed to be cleaned up after his cake! I'd like to think he had a great time. He did get a lot of nice gifts, thanks friends!

Cheaper IS Better

The other day we were all eating dinner as a family, one of my favorite things to do. All of a sudden Caleb started screaming and would not eat, very unusual for Bubby. I thought he wanted bread, but no, more screaming. I tried to let him feed himself, but no, more screaming. Then I though maybe he was thirsty so Rondell got his brand new sippy Nuby cup and filled it with watered down juice, but no, more screaming. After looking at him and going with Mommy instinct I realized that it was JAMISON's cup that he wanted. The cheap princess cup that I bought her for Christmas (I mean SANTA bought her). I thought to myself "no, he won't be able to drink from this cup, he has to start of with these expensive starter cups for babies." HA! I asked Jamison if Caleb could have her juice and she said "yes" and he sucked that juice down like he's been drinking from those cups for years. So I guess in this case cheaper is better.

Can I call you Juanita?

One of the main reasons that I created this blog was so that people who do not get to see the kids on a regular basis can stay updated on their lives. One person that first came to my mind was my grandmother, Granita. When I was little I asked her what her name was. She told me "Juanita." I asked her "can I call you Juanita?" She said "no." So I said, "I'll call you Granita, for Grandma and Juanita." I was so creative if I do say so myself. Well, this past Saturday the Lord came to get Granita to be with Him. So, I really hope that Heaven is wired so that she can read my posts from her chair!

I will miss you Granita! You will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart.

Who Says She's Not the Baby!

Rondell and I were in the kitchen and when we came out this is what we saw Jamison doing... We had to capture the moment on film. She always says that she's the big girl, not the baby but I guess she felt the need to go back in time. Who says you can't be young again.

I'm so proud of myself...

Finally, I'm getting this blog thing down. After months of putting it off, I have finally taken the time to figure out what to do [that's because Jamison is in Cleveland, Caleb is fast asleep and Rondell is at a meeting :)]. I've got the layout so far that I like and so here it goes, the launch of my blog. I've decided that it's so much easier than mailing pictures and people who would like to can follow along with what goes on in the Davis household.

More to come very soon!
