miscellany monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!  See the beautiful sunflowers that my Mommy gave me:

I put them in a vase that she bought for me a number of years ago.  My mom is so thoughtful when it comes to gifts for me and she seems to know what I like before I even know like it.  Like how she bought me sun catchers...who knew?  Now I love them (I'll have to show them to you one day).  ** Not sure what was going on with my camera that it wouldn't take a good shot.

2.  Writing Skills...I've decided that I wish I had beautiful writing skills.  I read some blogs and their posts just flow and are so meaningful.  I don't think I'm a terrible writer, but I do wish my writing was more elegant.

3.  Oxymoron...is it just me or is the term "rush hour traffic" an oxymoron?  I mean you really can't be in a rush if there's traffic can you?  Yet, each day there is that one person who feels the need to cut in and out of traffic to get further than everyone else...only to really end up no further than everyone else.

4.  To Nap or Not to Nap...that is the question.  Rondell and I are trying to decide whether or not to cut Caleb's nap.  In some ways he could still use a nap, but when he does he's usually up a lot later than we would like.  But if he doesn't take a nap then he's turns into a terror right around 5:00.  Decisions, decisions...

5.  Memory Verse...I've decided to continue to memorize Isaiah 40:28-29 (I posted about it here)...there's more I need to grasp from it.

We have nap issues too. Emma Jane still has to have quiet time but she doesn't have to sleep. She can look at books or play quietly in her room. Sometimes she falls asleep but even when she doesn't the down time in her room really helps with the 5 o'clock terrors!

Your flowers are beautiful! I wish I were a better writer too:) Good luck with the nap thing...I kept my kiddos taking naps as long as possible! Henry and Grant still take naps on the weekends sometimes:)

What a sweet Mommy! The flowers are beautiful. Giving up naps is such a big decision. Noelle is starting to fight them but I don't think she's ready. Without a nap, we melt down in the late afternoon! Noah gave them up @ 18 months.

Happy Valentine's Day! xoxo, Kelly

Have you thought about giving him about 30-40 minutes and then getting him up again? A little pint sized power nap?

Love the flowers and I love your writing. You might not think it flows or is "elegant" ...but I guarantee that the words you write stick with me long after I have finished reading your posts.
xoxo

Happy Valentine's Day! :o) Your mama is wonderful!

Napping? Lil still has an hour "rest" period every day. I HATE it when it's time to give up the nap. If they nap they don't sleep at night. If they don't nap, you are ready to toss them out a window... It's a tough thing.

Beautiful flowers!!

I laughed out loud about the rush hour traffic, so true.

Napping...hmmm. I think your lucky he's taking them still. Kayla stopped taking them before she was 2 and it was a nightmare. Kelsie stopped by the time she was 3 and could still use one every now and then. Good luck with whatever you do!

Beautiful flowers! I hope you had a wonderful day.

I too wish I was a better writer. I write just like I think and talk, so sometimes I go 90 miles a minute with my thoughts and that is what I type. I need to slow down.

I too think about when to cut naps. It seems like we fight about napping more than we nap. Quiet time works great for us, but by 5pm I start too lose my mind with the kids...haha!

The flowers are gorgeous...you're mom is so sweet! ;-)

I wish I could write in a more clever way too! I try but then I just sound corny and end up just stating the facts, ha! Oh well... :-) I think you do a great job and I enjoy reading your blog...your personality comes through and I think you have a great sense of humor ;-)

It was so sad when the kids stopped napping...even today I find that they at least need quiet time...and sometimes Emily still needs a good nap...we all do! They used to go to bed at 7pm without naps...that was heaven! They are still in bed between 7:30 and 8:00...they are just so tired from school.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi Kelli! Happy Valentine's Day! Beautiful flowers from your Mama. How sweet!

I am dreading the day when my youngest gives up her naps. I love that down time but I remember when we had to cut the naps with my oldest because she did the same thing, wouldn't want to go to bed at night. Good luck!!

okay - about the writing thing... my hubby just started writing a bunch of songs for an album (he's a musician/worship leader) and each song he writes takes a lot. he studies every word, uses a dictionary, thesaurus, etc because he doesn't want to take any single word for granted. he also has a motto of saying the most with using the least amt. of words. so, i believe everyone can be a good writer with due diligence and time. if only time was bountiful! : )

the nap thing must be tough. i'll miss the naps more than my kids will!

beautiful flowers... you can't help but smile when you see them!

Beautiful flowers. i say let him nap as long as he can and will. School comes soon enough without naps. I too would love better writing skills. But I am not a fan of writing either :)

Ha. Rush hour traffic. That is so true. Made me laugh.

Oh, the nap issue. Ugh. It is nice when they go to bed earlier but so hard to give up the naps. I was in denial forever with Avery until she was seriously playing in her bed until 10:30 every night. Why can't all kids take naps until the go to school??? : )
