miscellany monday - take two

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{1} Do you have certain shows or movies that you just have to turn on when you see that they are on TV...I do: Friends, The Golden Girls, Three's Company, You've Got Mail, any of the Bourne movies, and Clue.

{2} Rondell discovered my bad habit this weekend...cup hoarding. I have to have a cup of water when I go to bed and most times I forget to bring the cup down in the morning. Here's a look at the cups that he brought down (I don't think you can see the green one in the back and he even left one upstairs):

{3} Katie has done it again...she has shown me how to make something from scratch and can it. This weekend we made cherry pie filling and it is oh-so yummy. I wish I could give you clear instructions, but this was more of a guesstimate-type process. Overall we boiled the fresh (and already pitted) cherries with sugar, drained the cherries allowing the juice to go into a bowl (just put the colander in a bowl), whisked together corn starch and the juice (not all of the juice...this was part of the guessing), added cherries back in, stirred, and canned!

Here are some pictures of the process:

Bucket 'o cherries.

Boiling cherries and sugar.

Getting the jars nice and hot.

Goodness in a jar.

{4} I realized this weekend that orange Kool-Aid is indeed my favorite flavor...grape is a close second.

{5} I think this is going to be the week of putting stuff away...there are dishes that need to be put away, stamping supplies to be put away, toiletries to be put away, towels to be put away, toys to be put away... The house seems cluttered right at the moment and must be tackle right away.

You are too funny with those cups. I find water bottles all over my house...my kids forget which one was theirs and where they left it.
I love grape kool aid best. YUM

The cherry pie filling made me drool on my keyboard.

Orange kool aid is my fav too, but the kids don't like it...poo!

My must-stop-and-watch shows are Baby Story (TLC) and anything on Food Network!

Yum! That cherry pie filling looks delicious.

Can you believe I've never had a sip of Kool Aid? I was deprived as a child! I get enough sugar through Cherry Coke though...so I don't think I need to introduce it!

I am the same way with Friends and Golden Girls...plus Scrubs and Seinfeld too:) I love old sitcom reruns! That cherry pie filling looks so good! Where in the world did you find that big bucket of cherries?!?

haha! Emily used to do that with her cups too! she likes to have water by her bed :) We have the same snowflake cups!

The cherry-pie filling looks so yummy and pretty in the jar!

We're trying to tackle getting things cleared away too...always! it can be so overwhelming before you begin!

Oh that looks so yummy!

I put a bunch of stuff away yesterday and now I cannot remember where I put this one thing. It happens ;) but it will turn up eventually.

I must admit that I am addicted to Gilmore Girls. They just make me happy. Maybe because their lifes are even more insane than mine is. I have them on DVD, though, so whenever I need some happy craziness, I just put one in.

Have a wonderful day,
Kate

Oh I kitchen cabinet if full of cups! Tons of them. As I was going through our dishwasher and putting things away last night I was thinking "wow, we have more cups than we actually need". But I didn't get rid of any, because I'm worried we might have a baseball team stop by and need something to drink and then we wouldn't have enough to go around! :-)

Yummmy!!!! Your doing far better than I. I would love to do some canning but just can't bring myself to buy the stuff to do so.

I love Cherry kool aid, it's my top choice...Followed by grape! So yummy! Hmmm...I wonder if we have any packets...I'll have to check that out!

Kelli, you are so great for several reasons...

1.) I love all of your comments on my blog. They are always thoughtful and make me smile!
2.) Thank you for thinking of me and sending me the link to that blog about the big sister kit! Awesome.
3.) Orange and Grape kool-aid are my favorites too although grape might come first for me! : )
4.) I can never turn down friends and you've got mail and we are huge fans of the bourne series.
5.) You are so encouraging and I love reading your blog!

Have a great day, Kelli! Thanks!

What a great list. I am so with you on the cups. The bad thing is Donnie and I both take a cup of water to our room each night. Then it seems like we all have to get a new cup everytime we need something to drink. I guess if the dishwasher broke that would break that habit.
Have a great Monday!
