I've decided that I have to get back to making my house homier (don't you like how I made up that word!). There are two things I'd like to do in order to get myself back in gear:
Sarah at Clover Lane has this great idea. I love the idea of going into each room and writing down what needs to be done. I am going to take some time and do this over the weekend.
Kimba over at A Soft Place to Land is organizing this challenge. I LOVE this idea because I know that I am often thinking about how others feel about my home and wanting others to feel welcome (which I will continue to do), but I also need to remember the members of my family and to make our home a place where they always feel welcome, safe, and comfortable.
Yesterday Rondell changed the furniture in our room around and it makes for a nice change (with the exception of a few cords that are now in the doorway). We still need to completely go through our room and throw away, organize and clean, but we are well on our way to making our room a cozy place to be...and then on to another room!

Love both of those ideas! Thanks for sharing. I am in serious nesting phase right now so I'll be doing this for sure!
I love that word, homier! I need to do that going through each room thing...what an awesome idea..thanks for sharing the links!
Wow. I love the idea of greeting your family the same way you would a guest. I'm totally guilty of not doing that!
I love decorating and stuff!! Have fun rearranging and making your home cozier! You're idea of writing stuff down is a great one. I keep a running list of things I want to do to my house too...problem is my hubs never wants to give me the $$ for it! lol!
must be something in the air... we just re-arranged our "great" room. FUN! I love to change things around. I think your house is very welcoming... :) very cozy and warm.
I love making my family and guests feel welcome. I do have a few things I should write down and accomplish.
I really want to paint, but arghhhh painting is so much work. Hopefully I can talk the hubby into doing for me. heehee!!
I love the first idea of going through each room. When we made our long honey do list for the winter we did something similar. I love to freshen up the house. Have a great day!
Thats a great idea it helps me to have list of things that needs to be done just ask my husband lol
Working room by room is a great idea! I work well with lists, so I like that part too.
Hope you're having a great week!♥
I love the thought of greeting our own family as a guest...why do we always forget to do that :) Great reminder to make Dan want to come home! haha! I have always rearranged furniture in our house but have not done it in awhile...it really gives the room a different feel and perspective! I've been on a cleaning spree too and I finally got the finished side of the basement in order! It feels so good! Now on to the unfinished side...ugh!
I want to see some great pictures!!! It is fun to change it up a bit...
I JUST did the room to room list three days ago. I listed even things that need to be fixed or cleaned! great minds...
It always feels good to do this- I did it last Spring and it was so nice to have each room the way I wanted them to be.

Homier IS a word, clearly, since we all seem to know exactly what you mean by it. :)
I end up changing things around seasonally. It does make everything a bit nicer.
