Now That's What I Call A Life Verse...

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it. Numbers 14:24

I've been saved for a number of years and know a lot of the main principles of the Bible, but I've only recently started studying the Bible (through BSF...I know I talk about it a lot but it's that good!). This year we are studying the life of Moses. Old Testament stories are truly a mystery to me. I mean I know about Adam and Eve and Noah and the Ark, but for the most part the stories in the OT are all new for me. So, I had no clue that there was a great individual by the name of Caleb in the book of Numbers.
See, my Caleb was named after Rondell's dad. I think maybe at some point a person mentioned that it is a Biblical name but that didn't stick with me.
So, I'm studying Numbers and I get to the section that talks about Caleb and how he stood up for God's principles against the other leaders of the tribes. WOW! So, I read the verse mentioned above and thought how cool of a life verse for Caleb. Of course, for him it my change over time but for now my plan is to creatively print it off and hang it in his room. I'll show you the finished product when it's done.

Wow! I just found your blog from Jenjen-I have the chicken salad recipe you would die to have! I will get around to posting it this summer, because I love it!!!
I was so excited to see someone else mention BSF-I took it for all seven years, and my husband is teaching 1-2 graders right now in BSF-The life of Moses has been such a blessing to learn from this year...
Hope you don't mind a new follower-because, you got me!

You are right, what a great verse. Are you all using a book to study Moses?

What a great life verse! The OT is too a mystery to me, except the main stories that we all know. Where can I get this BSF you are speaking of all the time?

I just read your comment on my blog-I also adore BSF!!!
I was raised in a great Christian family but needed to find my own faith in God that was my relationship with Him, not through my dear parents belief. The first year of my marriage, my husband and I both did Romans and committed ourselves completely to God-It was life changing. I have taken a few years off with babies, but it was the most meaningful Bible teaching of my life. Like I said-my husband is now a Children's leader and loves every minute.
The teacher question-
It is a very rewarding career, but it is not as easy as people think. It is not 9-4 like people see, but alot of work at home grading papers, designing your plan for the week, and decorating a room. Not to mention late evenings with meetings, and conferences...
With that said-it must be a passion.
If you have your BA, in whatever state you live in, check out your State Board of Education. They usually list the criteria for teachers. There probably will compency testing, student teaching (3-6 months in a classroom without any pay...)and possible graduate classes needed. Each state is different, so you need to go to your state level to find out.
Me? I was born to be a teacher. It is the only thing I ever wanted to be, but still the classroom was a challenge. I tutor currently, and plan to finish my master's degree when the kids are a bit older so I can go back to the classroom at some point. The point being-I love it and miss it, but raising a family and teaching is not for me at this point.
Long answer to a short question!
BTW-I don't think your kids could be any cuter-they truly are beautiful!!!

Amen! :)

I am impressed you are reading numbers! I have to admit it is one of my least favorite books, in the Bible. I mean, I LOVE the whole Bible, but some of those books are harder to read, than others! :) SO kudos!

That is a great verse! It is such a blessing to me to watch you and others in small group raising their kids in a God honoring way. But I have to admit, everytime I see Caleb's picture I think, "THAT is the best looking kid I have ever seen!

I think he looks like this guy:
