Coming Soon...

I'm very excited! Tonight I'm going on my first Women's Retreat with a few ladies from my Small Group. I've never been to a retreat before and I'm really looking forward to bonding and focusing on God.

So, when I get back I'll share the details of the overnight with you. And, Jamison's room is almost done so the "big reveal" will be early next week.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the nicer weather !

Oh Kelli! I used to be a teacher too (taught in public and private) and although I loved it, it was a lot of work. A few tips...=)

1. Have parents volunteer to help in your classroom from putting up bulletin boards, to GRADING PAPERS! (no one warned me about this one...of coarse it was middle school English so the grading was INSANE), to setting up for parties, to coordinating field trips, etc., etc., etc.....
2. Never distribute your phone number or parents will be calling you out the wazoo. I learned this the hard way.
3. Keep God and family first no matter what!
4. Give your students ownership of the classroom (with limits). Let them have the class jobs such as cleaning animal cages, wiping down the chalkboard, wiping down desks, etc. They love it and it helps you out. Eventually it'll become habbit for them and things will just get done.

5. Pray for your students.

Teaching can be an extremely rewarding job, but a good teacher finds the balance, so he/she can continue this lifelong career of educating our young ones.

I highly suggest the book
"The Essential 55" by Ron Clark. Changed my life at home and at school. It's for teachers, but I think all parents should read it too.

Good Luck! You'll be a great teacher!

I'm DYING to see Jamison's room. I didn't realize that you were so close to done already! I need to follow your example....
