The Simple Woman's Daybook - Monday, March 29, 2010

For today...

Outside my window...
gloomy, but be sure to look at the forecast I posted below...things are looking up.

I am thinking...of all the things I want to do this week. Because of the beautiful forecast I would like to get some deep Spring Cleaning done. Today I am going to take some time and create a list...because you know I love lists.

I am thankful for...Sunday naps.

I am remembering...my grandmother, Granita. Yesterday would have been her 80th birthday (EDIT: My Daddy corrected me to say that she would have been 79). I miss her dearly and think of her often. There was nothing like her laugh (and her biscuits!).

I am reading...Beth Moore's book...still (I know).

I am hoping...that I actually get things done on my To Do list...lately time has gotten away from me.

Pondering these words..."Do what you know to do and let God take care of the rest." This was the main theme of yesterday's sermon given by one of our pastors. I tend to worry, control and plan to a fault. This gives me the guidance that I need...'do what I KNOW to do', meaning to follow what God has lined up for me, not what I have planned or what I attempt to control. This doesn't mean that I sit back and just let Him to all of the work, I have things to do...as long as they line up with Him. And as long as I follow His guidance I won't have to worry because He will take care of the rest.

From the kitchen...no menu planned (aahh). I do think we may do hamburgers on the grill tonight.

Around the house...it's getting cleaned. I know that Kelly's Korner had a link party about cleaning tips so I'm going to check that out. I will also be able to do one of my favorite things this week...open all of the windows.

A few plans for the rest of the week...besides clean...Thursday Rondell and I are participating in a Passover meal with our Small Group and then Saturday we're going to our friends Robert & Amanda's church for an egg drop. They are dropping eggs from a helicopter...the kids should really love that.

What's in your daybook?

i love this post! i am a list lover, as well. : ) lately, i too, have had difficult time scratching things off the list. but you are so right, when it's spring outside it gives me extra motivation to get things accomplished. i need to read beth moore's book... right now i'm in the middle of her daniel study - i better stick to one thing at a time so it can all sink in! happy monday!

I love lists, but I have been avoiding them lately because I feel bad for not finishing all the stuff on them! I did make one today to help me get going! Henry's bday is in less than two weeks and I have nothing done...that is not like me at all! We had burgers on the grill last night and they were so good! I put some montreal steak seasoning into the meat and I promise they were the best homemade burgers we have ever had!

I LOVE lists! :) Seems to be the only way I can accomplish things some days. I'm bad about starting one thing (say, cleaning out a junk drawer), getting sidetracked (Look! I found that picture that I thought I'd lost and it needs to go in Perri's baby book!), and having 15 things started and not finished. I like to make a list and keep reminding myself that my goal is to FINISH PROJECT #1 before starting ANYTHING else. So I keep a basket with me to put those 'sidetrack-me-not' items in so I can handle them when that first project gets checked off my list. :) Works for me.

Love your daybook, Kelli! I especially loved the words you're pondering. I'm the same way... always worrying and making sure I'm in control of my life instead relinquishing control to God.

I pray you're doing well. I haven't heard from you in a while. I know I was away all last week, but I caught up on reading all your posts and commenting yesterday. I have something for you on my blog whenever you have a chance.

Hopefully, I'll hear from you soon. Take good care and God bless!

I hope to get my lists done too. I am so far behind on everything. Lots to do once spring hits. Sunday naps are the best!

I am so glad that the forecast is looking better for you all. We are hopefully going to get nice weather this weekend as we are having a yard sale. Which luckily I got all my spring cleaning done so I will be able to get rid of a lot.
You know I am with you on the list making. I was so glad that this weekend I got a lot of things marked off my to do list.
Hope you have had a great Monday!
