Counting Down

This year I really want to make an advent calendar. I've seen the cute ones at Pottery Barn, but I don't have that kind of money. I want to make one that we'll be able to use year after year.

I've found some inspirations...what do you think:

Jen at Tatertots and Jello

Carrie at Buzzing of a Queen Bee

Are you making an advent calendar or have you already made one? Please share.

It is MUCH more special, when you make it anyway! :)

I like the first one, a lot! It's really classy and CUTE!

Those are SUPER cute! I have one that I bought a few years ago...but I don't really like it so we don't usually use it! I may just have to get crafty and make one this year! Thanks for the inspiration!

Those are great inspirations!

We have an advent calendar that came from QVC one year...the kids love it. They take turns everyday putting the little star in the pockets.

Those are all super cute. I absolutely ♥ Jen's!

Last year, I made one out of Chinese food take out boxes. I hung them on a special tree in our dining room. I put special little presents in them each day. We also had this amazing advent book with tiny booklets for each day. It was such a great experience. We'll do it every year!

{You can find it in my archives, if you're interested}

I just read JenJen post about her advent calendar and just about screamed. I am like you I want a new advent calendar as we still use the one from when we were kids, but like you I am not going to spend that type of money on a calendar. I am thinking I will make JenJen's but I am also going to checkout the ones you suggested.
Have a great day!

I do have an advent calendar, but I'd like a bunch. You know, so each kid could open something every day. I'm thinking of a big ribbon with candy, but we'll see.

I had a Playmobile toy one for the kids and they loved opening each piece and guessing what would be next! But some of the pieces got lost! I love those ideas! I love the Pottery Barn ones too...but definitely too pricey! I know you could make one so much more special! Very fun!

I remember Carrie's from last year and how much I wanted to make it! I love the first one you shared and I just visited Jen's blog and peeked at hers. These ladies are so stinkin' creative!! My mom made the kids a large felt advent calendar last year, so I guess it's done already...even though I'd love to make my own! ;) I wonder which one you'll choose to be inspired by?

I was just looking at these on etsy today. Not being crafty, I want to buy one. I want one with a nativity though and there aren't too many to choose from. I think they are a great tradition though!
